Job summary

OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND ENTERPRISE SERV in Oklahoma is seeking a Budget Analyst I to join the Budget, Policy, and Gaming Compliance team in an in-office role. You will review and post agency budgets, analyze legislation, and prepare reports for the Governor's Executive Budget Book.

The position offers generous leave, holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package. Salary up to $60,000 based on education and experience; bachelor's degree or 3–5 years state finance experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; or 3–5 years of state finance experience.
  • Preference given to candidates with a degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, or public administration.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and assess agency budget work programs for constitutional and statutory compliance, technical accuracy, and agency budget explanations.
  • Analyzes, approves, and posts agency budgets and budget revisions in the state system of record, establishing expenditure limits.
  • Tracks, monitors, and analyzes legislation to identify critical fiscal and policy implications for assigned agencies
  • Consolidates, analyzes, and reports agency budget requests.
  • Creates agency reports for inclusion in the Governor's Executive Budget Book.
  • Facilitates and responds to executive, public, and legislative information requests.
  • Identifies quality proposals for improving the cost-efficiency or cost-effectiveness of state programs.
  • Assists with training peers and agency financial staff.

Job Description

As a Budget Analyst I with OMES you will enjoy:

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.

The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.

Some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college; or
  • 3-5 years of state finance experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess
  • A relevant degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, or public administration
