Job summary

Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a McKesson subsidiary, seeks a Clinical Budget Analyst to craft budgets from trial protocols, negotiate with Sponsors, and present proposals to executives. This remote US-based role requires robust Excel skills and familiarity with clinical trials.

The candidate will manage budget status updates, coordinate with clinical staff for protocol clarity, and drive cost efficiency across multiple trials in a dynamic oncology research network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required with at least 1 year work experience utilizing basic financial principles, Microsoft Excel, and other data management tools.
• At least 1 year of experience in budget negotiation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and other complex formulas.
• Familiarity with clinical research and/or medical terminology.
• Functional knowledge of clinical trials, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creating new budgets in Excel based upon Sarah Cannon cost and charge information, analyzing each clinical trial protocol to provide a detailed counteroffer to the Sponsor's initial budget.
• Negotiating budgets with Sponsors/CROs to achieve favorable outcomes and build relationships for future negotiations.
• Maintaining and communicating budget statuses to executive management.
• Proactively communicating with clinical staff and management to clarify protocol specifics and billable items affecting budgets.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

The Clinical Budget Analyst will interpret protocols from a financial perspective; develop clinical trial budgets, negotiate pricing, and present budget proposals to executive management. This position is a remote position based in the US; relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

Duties

• Creating new budgets in Excel based upon Sarah Cannon cost and charge information, analyzing each clinical trial protocol in order to provide a detailed counteroffer to the Sponsor's initial budget while meeting established metrics surrounding each budget.
• Negotiating budgets with Sponsors/CROs in order to result in a favorable overall result for Sarah Cannon, while establishing and maintaining business relationships for future negotiations.
• Maintaining and effectively communicating to executive management statuses for all assigned budgets.
• Proactively communicating and soliciting input from clinical staff, management and others in order to receive timely clarification on protocol specifics, standard of care, billable items and other nuances affecting the budget.
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package.
