Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking an Accountant I to support city-wide accounting and budget functions within the Finance Department. The role performs professional, technical, and analytical duties under supervision.

Responsibilities include preparing budget and financial reports, reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting with capital improvement budgets, and ensuring compliance with GASB and GAAP. Work hours are Monday–Friday, with a starting salary range noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgetary and financial reports.
• Assist departments in budget development and preparation, including operational budgets and CIP.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and financial data verification.
• Readies and maintains financial transactions applying accounting principles.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
