Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking qualified candidates for BSW & MSW Adjunct Faculty positions within the School of Social Work. This role offers online instruction across BSW and MSW programs, covering human behavior in the social environment, research, generalist/clinical/macro practice, policy, social justice, and elective topics.

Responsibilities include delivering weekly online classes via Canvas, preparing lesson plans, holding office hours, and providing timely feedback

Qualifications

This position offers opportunities to teachin the modalities of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Masterof Social Work (MSW) programs, across a variety of subjects,including: human behavior in the social environment, research,generalist/clinical/macro practice, policy, social justice, andvarious elective topics.

Position Responsibilities for Community EmbeddedTeaching:

• Deliver high-quality instruction during weekly on-lineclasses
• Utilize VCU’s learning management system, Canvas
• Prepare weekly lesson plans to facilitate effective learningexperiences
• Hold weekly office hours to provide guidance and support tostudents
• Engage with students in a timely manner, utilizing excellentwritten and oral communication skills

This is a part-time, non-benefited appointment

Salary: $4,626 (3 credits) $1,542 per credit hour

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work or a relatedfield
• Demonstrated expertise and experience in the field of social workor a related field- two years post-graduate degree ispreferred
• Teaching experience, preferably in higher education, with a focuson social work education or a related field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to effectively engage with a diverse studentpopulation
• Clinical licensure is required for certain courses
• Commitment to adhering to Virginia Commonwealth University andSchool of Social Work policies
