Job description

Position Title: BSG Development & Validation Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills, MI.
0-5% travel required. Local, domestic, and international (supplier is in Europe).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering field from an ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience (research graduate work may count towards experience).
• Experience in validating and releasing electric components for automotive applications.
• Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
• Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
• Knowledge of GD&T.
• Understanding of manufacturing and quality processes of electrical components; demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Designing and executing DVPs for propulsion system requirements testing.
• Critically evaluating requirements, designing DVPs, and executing testing.
• Identifying appropriate testing environments for each test case (e.g., HIL or vehicle).
• Performing pre-analysis of issues and proposing solutions.
• Identifying critical and corner case maneuvers based on requirements to uncover potential failures.
• Activities are performed on electrified-hybrid propulsion system architectures on HIL and vehicle.

BSG is the 48-volt Belt Starter Generator, or Motor Generator Unit, which replaces the alternator on your engine to enable start/stop features.
