ANCHOR is a district-wide program housed at our newly reconfigured elementary in Manchester. The ANCHOR program is specifically designed for students in grades K-5 whose behaviors substantially impact their ability to meaningfully access the general education classroom instruction. The ANCHOR Program provides a predictable, therapeutic, and structured educational environment with direct instruction in social-emotional skill development and the teaching of self-regulation strategies.
The Special Programs Paraeducator - ANCHOR performs a variety of instructional and/or support duties to assist the school and teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students in groups or in one-on-one teacher to student ratios. The Paraeducator supports students in all aspects of their education by supporting an environment conducive to learning. As a positive and nurturing member of the school team, this position understands and attends to a variety of students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavior needs. The Paraeducator supports school teams in the implementation of teaching plans and/or services for individual students with significant behavioral, social, and academic needs as per the student’s Individual Education Plan and/or programs designed by a teacher or other professional as directed.
Paraeducators work under the day-to-day direction of the staff member(s) supported including the classroom teacher, special education teacher, SLP, OT, PT, and under the direct supervision of the Principal. Teachers and/or special education personnel provide specific directions and oversight for supervision and/or instructional support.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
