HELP USA in Brooklyn is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to work with school-age children and young adults living in our new temporary housing facility. You will plan and implement engaging programs that support socialization, resilience, and well-being for residents.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; proficiency with computers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual recreational program for all age groups.
  • Ensure services are accessible for children with special needs.
  • Encourage participation of resident families to support family cohesion.
  • Engage in community outreach to secure resources and in-kind donations.
  • Create a resource guide of local free and inexpensive recreational options.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy environment for all activities.
  • Provide supervision and support to recreation staff; lead staff meetings.
  • Develop a budget for the recreation department.
