Job summary

Shore Fire Media seeks a sharp publicity assistant for our Brooklyn team, reporting to Senior Account Executive Mikaela Duhs. The role supports non-music client campaigns across arts, culture, brands and events, inside a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You’ll draft materials, monitor coverage, coordinate events, and help manage multiple priorities while learning the ropes of media relations, client communications and strategy.

Qualifications

  • You have at least two internships at a public relations or corporate communications agency or a minimum of one year of experience in a comparable communications role.
  • You have excellent time management, organizational skills and are detail-oriented.
  • You welcome challenges, take initiative and are an eager problem-solver.
  • You take direction well and are a team player with a growth mindset.
  • You have exemplary writing, communication and storytelling skills.
  • You are a voracious consumer of media and news.
  • You love the business of public relations and the business of music/entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the fundamentals of media relations, campaign strategy and client management.
  • Work on multiple publicity campaigns from day one.
  • Draft press releases, pitch letters, media alerts, talking points and other written materials.
  • Draft and update press reports.
  • Monitor coverage and share daily press clippings with supervisors and clients.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date client notes and campaign documents.
  • Collaborate with team members on campaign strategy.
  • Pitch clients for media coverage and other relevant opportunities.
  • Coordinate the logistics of appearances, interviews, meetings and events.
  • Manage tour and event press requests, invitations, preview pitching and press schedules.
  • Attend and provide support at press events, concerts, red carpets and meetings.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and stay on top of emails and action items.
  • Schedule and confirm client calls and interviews, create calendar invitations and provide all necessary details.
  • Cover client interviews via Zoom and in person.
  • Draft call agendas, take detailed notes and send recaps and next steps.
  • Communicate regularly with your supervisor about priorities, progress and anticipated deadline changes.
  • Prioritize work within the context of each client’s broader goals and timeline.
