Job summary

Explore Schools in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Middle School STEM Academic Coordinator to lead instructional coaching and teacher growth in an in-person setting. You will work closely with the Principal to implement the instructional vision and support grade-level teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of teaching, strong math and science knowledge for grades 6-8, data-driven planning, and excellent communication skills. This exempt role requires in-person work with a 45-hour week.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of teaching experience, preferably in an urban charter school.
• Strong math and science content knowledge for grades 6-8.
• Experience coaching teachers or managing adults is preferred.
• Data-oriented with ability to set goals and measure progress.

Responsibilities

• Management and supervision of teachers and grade level teams, including evaluation processes.
• Lead school-wide priority plan and collaborate to execute instructional vision.
• Provide professional development at school and grade level.
• Coordinate meetings with teams to identify needs and plan next steps.
• Support lesson planning and ensure availability of materials for quality instruction.
• Participate in recruitment, selection and retention of staff.
• Provide academic support to students and small groups as needed.
• Support training on behavioral systems and culture-relevant practices.
• Oversee teacher-family communications around academic priorities.
• Ensure related services and intervention needs are met, including IEPs and CST coordination.
