Job summary

NYU Langone Health's Family Health Centers in Brooklyn is seeking an Assistant Teacher for a Monday–Friday schedule (8a-4p, 9a-5p, and 10a-6p). You’ll support the Head Teacher in planning developmentally appropriate activities and maintaining a stimulating classroom.

Strong teamwork and parent engagement are essential. You will document observations, help with daily routines, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive learning environment within a leading health system.

Qualifications

• To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year relevant experience
• Warm, caring and outgoing personality
• Ability to work well with others
• Able to create and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and staff
• Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years experience in childcare
• Health and Safety Trainings
• CDA Certificate
• Associate or higher Degree in Early Childhood Education
• Bilingual

Responsibilities

• Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival
• Communicates directly with supervisor
• Readily accepts and responds to supervisory inputs accordingly
• Follow the daily schedule and provide outdoor playtime for children twice a day when weather permitting
• Holds parents conferences on schedule
• Takes an active role in encouraging parent participation
• Maintains confidentiality and positive parent relationships
• Gives ample notice for absences
• Ensures all required paperwork is done on time
