Job summary

ADAPT Community Network is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Bronx-based team on a part-time, flexible-hours basis. The role focuses on evaluating and delivering OT services to adults with developmental, physical, and/or cognitive disabilities, promoting independence and meaningful participation in daily living and community activities.

The OT will develop treatment plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document progress, and support program staff.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Occupational Therapy is required; a Master's is preferred.
• Current NY State license in Occupational Therapy.
• Experience with adults with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates clients to establish learning and performance goals and develops a treatment plan.
• Develops a treatment plan and goals based on assessment.
• Selects activities to aid adjustment to disability and teaches adaptive skills.
• Participates in in-service education for staff.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews.
• Integrates therapy into programs through collaboration with parents/guardians and staff.
• Documents therapy activities and progress in records and shares outcomes with the team.
• Monitors therapy status and makes recommendations as needed.
• Refer to other clinical services when appropriate.
• Designs and fits adaptive devices (e.g., splints, shoes, braces).
• Trains program staff as required.
• Assists with arrival, dismissal, mealtime, bathroom use, and classroom management.
• Supervises OT students and assistants as needed.
• Maintains equipment and orders supplies.
