Job summary

The Broadcast Operations Assistant at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will work with WUNC’s operations and programming staff to ensure shows, underwriting, and promotions air as scheduled. The position supports VT/Wide Orbit systems and requires coordination with underwriting and on-air hosts.

Responsibilities include building templates, managing program logs, and recording evening/weekend automation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in broadcast television, radio and emerging media environments.
  • Experience in the basics of on-air operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Visual Traffic (VT) or Wide Orbit is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • The Broadcast Operations Assistant will assign underwriting credits using Visual Traffic to the daily program log and coordinate with the underwriting team on airchecks.
  • Build and maintain show/templates in VT and Wide Orbit; oversee acquisition and scheduling of new programs from Content Depot and PRX Exchange; manage on-screen metadata entry using Rapid.
  • Record evening and weekend automation and coordinate with on-air hosts regarding log and program changes; fill in as an on-air host as needed.
