  • Ability to relocate after the program.
  • Willingness to travel extensively up to 100% as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on technical rotations in Field Shop, Fiber Optics, Copper, Panheads & Power Systems.
  • Assist with Systems Integration: installation, wiring, testing, and documentation.
  • Work in live production environments alongside NEP engineers.
  • Relocate after successful program; potential mobile unit engineering path.

Launch your career in broadcast engineering with NEP. Our 12-month Engineer Apprentice Program combines structured technical rotations, hands-on training, systems integration experience, and real-world exposure to live production environments.

You’ll learn from experienced professionals, work with industry-leading broadcast technology, and build the technical skills needed to support complex productions and live events.

What You’ll Do:

Complete hands-on technical rotations in:

  • Field Shop: Equipment preparation, troubleshooting, maintenance, shop operations, and technical procedures.
  • Fiber Optics: Fiber handling, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Copper: Copper cabling, connectors, termination, testing, and broadcast signal infrastructure.
  • Panheads, Sticks & Power Systems: Camera support equipment, panheads, tripods, and basic electrical and power distribution systems.
  • Systems Integration: Equipment installation, wiring, configuration, documentation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Systems Integration Road Assignments: Apply your technical knowledge alongside experienced NEP engineers in live production environments.

What You’ll Need:

  • An associate or technical degree in Broadcast Communications, Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Formal training or hands-on experience in electronics, broadcast technology, cabling, or IP networking is preferred.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and technical systems quickly.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to relocate following successful completion of the program.
  • Ability to travel extensively—up to 100%—depending on the assigned role and business unit.

Upon successful completion, you will be required to relocate to the designated home location of your assigned business unit. Apprentices promoted into Mobile Unit engineering roles will remain based in Pittsburgh for an additional year before moving to their selected location.
