Job summary

TEGNA's WTSP in Tampa, FL is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join a dedicated technology team responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast equipment.

The role requires a 3+ year track record in television broadcasting, an associate degree in Electronics or Communications, and the ability to work a 24x7x365 schedule. Training on IT and broadcast systems is available, with emphasis on quality service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics or Communications or equivalent.
• Minimum three years' experience in a television broadcasting environment.
• Familiarity with Bitcentral hardware/software and Sony ELC is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including transmitters, antennas, switchers, routers, ENG and DSNG transmissions, field cameras, signal paths and automation.

WTSP, the CBS affiliate in Tampa, FL, has an opening for a Broadcast Engineer.

This position is responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast equipmentand reports to the Head of Technology and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Good verbal and writtencommunications skills.
• Ability to think on their feet, work well with others and be a self-starter. A team player who is focused on quality customer service for internal/external customers.
• Support day to day operations of broadcast systems.
• Create and maintain wiring documentation and system configuration documentation.
• Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including television broadcasting, studio production and associated broadcast equipment.
• Willing to train, if required, on IT and broadcast system operation and maintenance to service all aspects of the television environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use had and power tools, work on small components and perform other physical tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electronics, Communications or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred.
• Minimum three years' experience in a television broadcasting environment.
• Familiarity with Bitcentral-related hardware/software and Sony ELC a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including; transmitters, antennas, broadcast switchers, router systems, ENG and DSNG transmissions, field cameras, signal path workflows and automation.
• Ability to work well and make solid decisions under pressure.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 operation.
