Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in Tampa, FL, via WTSP, is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to join the technology team. The role covers integration, maintenance, operation and support of broadcast equipment, reporting to the Head of Technology and Operations.

You will support day-to-day operations, document wiring and configurations, stay current with broadcast tech advances, and participate in 24x7x365 coverage with readiness to train on IT and broadcast systems as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics, Communications or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a television broadcasting environment.
• Familiarity with Bitcentral-related hardware/software and Sony ELC a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including transmitters, antennas, broadcast switchers, router systems, ENG and DSNG transmissions, field cameras, signal path workflows and automation.
• Ability to work well and make solid decisions under pressure.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 operation.

Responsibilities

• Support day to day operations of broadcast systems.
• Create and maintain wiring documentation and system configuration documentation.
• Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including television broadcasting, studio production and associated broadcast equipment.
• Willing to train, if required, on IT and broadcast system operation and maintenance to service all aspects of the television environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components and perform other physical tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

WTSP , the CBS affiliate in Tampa, FL , has an opening for a Broadcast Engineer. This position is responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast equipmentand reports to the Head of Technology and Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Good verbal and writtencommunications skills.
• Ability to think on their feet, work well with others and be a self-starter. A team player who is focused on quality customer service for internal/external customers.
