Job summary

TEGNA Inc. is seeking a Broadcast Engineer for WTSP in Tampa, FL. The role involves the integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast equipment with accountability to the Head of Technology and Operations.

Ideal candidates have a background in electronics/communications, knowledge of broadcast tech, and the ability to perform under pressure in a 24x7 environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in electronics/communications preferred.
• Minimum three years' experience in a television broadcasting environment.
• Familiarity with Bitcentral-related hardware/software and Sony ELC is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including transmitters, antennas, switchers, routers, ENG/DSNG, cameras and automation.
• Ability to work well and make solid decisions under pressure.
• Flexible schedule to support 24x7x365 operations.

WTSP, the CBS affiliate in Tampa, FL, has an opening for a Broadcast Engineer.

This position is responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast equipmentand reports to the Head of Technology and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Good verbal and writtencommunications skills.
• Ability to think on their feet, work well with others and be a self-starter. A team player who is focused on quality customer service for internal/external customers.
• Support day to day operations of broadcast systems.
• Create and maintain wiring documentation and system configuration documentation.
• Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including television broadcasting, studio production and associated broadcast equipment.
• Willing to train, if required, on IT and broadcast system operation and maintenance to service all aspects of the television environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use had and power tools, work on small components and perform other physical tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum three years' experience in a television broadcasting environment.
• Familiarity with Bitcentral-related hardware/software and Sony ELC a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast technologies including; transmitters, antennas, broadcast switchers, router systems, ENG and DSNG transmissions, field cameras, signal path workflows and automation.
• Ability to work well and make solid decisions under pressure.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule in support of a 24x7x365 operation.
