Job summary

EchoStar is seeking a Roku BrightScript Principal Engineer to join the Sling & DANY client platform engineering group. You will work across client app development, SceneGraph architecture, QA automation, and AI-assisted SDLC, building the Roku platform used by Sling and DANY.

You will lead architecture decisions, optimize performance on constrained hardware, and ensure certification readiness for Roku channels while collaborating with product and engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years producing BrightScript applications
• Shipping a production BrightScript app through Roku Channel Certification
• Proven architecture lead on multi-engineer client apps
• Experience translating reference implementations into BrightScript
• Experience in streaming/OTT or connected TV environments
• Knowledge of DRM (Widevine/PlayReady) and ad SDKs

Responsibilities

• Map production OTT modules to BrightScript equivalents and define API contracts
• Design scalable scene stack and deep-linking routing architecture
• Oversee SceneGraph component library and ensure performance correctness
• Configure BrightScript linting, static analysis, and AI SDLC hooks
• Evaluate and implement Roku Automation Framework for testing and benchmarking
