Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites applications for a Bridges & Structures Business Class Leader in Northern California. This leadership role will manage and mentor a team of engineers across multiple offices, focusing on transportation bridges and structures.

You will drive technical excellence, QA/QC, staffing effectiveness, and collaboration with PMs, marketing, and client stakeholders to deliver complex bridge projects while contributing to HDR’s employee-owned culture and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field is required.
• 10 years of experience leading transportation projects and teams.
• Committed to HDR values and quality.
• Maintains professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
• Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
• Ability to collaborate with area leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts.
• Active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide Area leadership for Bridges & Structures capabilities.
• Manage staffing, workload balancing, and BC utilization with PMs and Area Manager.
• Deliver technical input on project requirements and supervise BC staff.
• Maintain QA/QC procedures and best practices.
• Drive area performance and growth of the technical sector.
• Support area Pursuits and proposals; recruit professionals as needed.
• Develop mentoring and advancement processes for staff.
• Build client relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Lead multi-project planning and coordination across offices.
