Job summary

Jobtailor in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead bridge design and maintenance projects within the Illinois market. The role requires a Master’s in Structural Engineering, PE/S.E. licensure, and 8+ years of related experience.

You will drive technical excellence and client outcomes. You will mentor staff, coordinate schedules, manage client relationships, and oversee safety plans while applying finite element analysis tools and CAD software.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is required.
Illinois PE license and Structural Engineer (S.E.) license are required.
8+ years of related experience in structural engineering.
Experience with Illinois bridge design policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Mentor staff across the structural group.
Coordinate tasks and project schedules.
Communicate with clients regarding project issues, schedules, and budgets.
Assist with proposal production and marketing initiatives.
Teach educational courses when assigned.
Serve as discipline lead for project tasks or disciplines when assigned.
Perform detailed technical peer reviews.
Maintain technical knowledge through training, seminars, professional publications, and in-house systems or management training.
Verify quality standards and project deadlines are met.
Maintain client satisfaction.
Oversee the project safety Health and Safety Plan.
Coordinate directly with client Project Representatives.
Provide regular status reports to the Structural Department Manager.
