Job summary

EMERY SAPP & SONS is seeking a Structure Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for bridge, retaining walls, box culverts, and other structural projects. You will work with operations, engineering, and project management to evaluate plans, quantities, and production strategies.

The role involves reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, developing cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subs, and leading bid reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil or bridge construction estimating experience.
• Knowledge of MoDOT bridge specifications.
• Experience estimating cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, and foundation systems.
• Familiarity with estimating software such as Ineight Estimate, HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, AGTEK, or Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Review bridge and structure plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, piling, cofferdams, and related work.
• Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
• Lead bid reviews and estimate presentations.
• Support project handoff meetings after award.
• Support operation team with technical change order pricing.
