GPD is looking to make Pittsburgh our next hub of Transportation and Roadway design innovation. Due to our organic growth and stellar reputation in the industry, GPD is excited to add a Bridge Project Engineer to our Pittsburgh, PA office, embodying the entrepreneurial spirit and passion for championing meaningful community change that GPD is founded on. GPD Group works directly with the communities we serve for transportation, bridge, roadway, and heavy highway design.
Role Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Master’s degree in Civil Engineering a plus.
- 7-20 years of experience in engineering design and documentation in Bridge Construction projects in Pennsylvania.
- Pennsylvania professional engineering registration (PE). Bridge inspection certification (CBSI) and/or experience a plus.
- Knowledge of AASHTO/PennDOT policies and standard procedures applicable for the analysis, evaluation, and design of various bridge types. Proficient understanding of performing bridge assessments and inspections a plus.
- Experience delivering PennDOT/PTC projects, City of Pittsburgh DOMI, and Allegheny County projects a plus.
- Extensive experience with preparing bridge construction drawings, calculating bridge rebars, and bridge quantities.
- Strong technical/computer software skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel), AutoCAD, Microstation, and PennDOT design software programs.
- Experience mentoring and empowering engineers newer in their career.
- Enjoys taking on a leadership role not only as a technical expert but as a servant leader in the community and within the company.
- Thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys all forms of communication with clients and team members (virtual, in-person, phone).
- Experience assisting in the development and oversight of project scope, schedule, and fees for new projects and additional scope/services requested by clients.
- Experience supporting business development efforts including site visits, letter of interest preparation, participation in technical societies, and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Engineering: providing opportunities to interact with multiple stakeholders in services encompassing the development of Bridge and infrastructure projects, including complete A&E design, structural analysis, survey, environmental assessment, inspection, and site walks.
- Technical oversight: managing the project design and quality review process, analyzing data, recognizing discrepancies, and identifying solutions and risks.
- Strategic Planning: working with the team to develop and execute strategic actions aligned with both Bridge/Transportation and GPD Group goals, contributing to the company's growth.
- Mentoring and Development: guiding the Transportation team, providing technical training, and empowering team members to find their passion and translate it into career success.
- Administrative oversight: assisting in workflow tracking, scheduling, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining project documentation within scope and budget.
