Job summary

Horner & Shifrin seeks a full-time Bridge Project Engineer for our Structural Unit in multiple offices, including St. Louis, MO. The role requires 5+ years' experience and PE licensure, with Illinois structural licensure preferred.

You will perform bridge design calculations, prepare drawings, and contribute to reports and cost estimates while collaborating across locations.

Qualifications

• PE license is required to practice.
• Illinois Structural Engineer license preferred.
• Experience with IDOT or Illinois Tollway bridge projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MicroStation and design software.
• Bridge inspection experience preferred.
• Able to traverse sites with heights and rough terrain.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Follow Bridge Practice production and design standards and procedures as delegated by the Project Manager.
• Perform and check structural engineering calculations of bridges, retaining walls, and other transportation infrastructure structures using company, client, and industry standards.
• Participate in the preparation and checking of structural construction drawings created by teammates to meet firm and client requirements.
• Develop and check cost estimates.
• Participate in the preparation of reports and studies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Licensed Structural Engineer in Missouri (preferred)
• Experience with design and detailing of MODOT or Missouri Tollway bridge projects (firm requirement)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MicroStation
• Knowledge of Structural Bridge Design Software
• Previous bridge inspection experience (preferred)
• Ability to traverse structural sites, including heights and rough terrain
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Must complete a background check

SALARY RANGE:

Horner & Shifrin, Inc. offers a comprehensive total rewards package and is committed to fair, competitive, market-based compensation. The target salary range for this position is $95,000 - $140,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
