Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead design teams on municipal and transportation projects in the Philadelphia area. You will interpret geotechnical data, develop cost estimates, coordinate with sub-consultants, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid office setting.

Responsibilities include managing project scopes, enforcing client specifications, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables while collaborating with internal teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
• 7-10 years’ experience in specialized discipline
• Professional Engineer License
• Proficient in discipline specific design software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Written and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
• Perform design computations
• Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Develop construction cost estimates
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
• Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
• Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
• Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
• Prepare proposals as required
• Attend meetings with clients
• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
• Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team
