Bridge Project Engineer (Transportation)

About the Job:

GPI is seeking a full-time structural project engineer for our New England branch based in Wilmington or Boston, MA, Medford, Salem, or Portsmouth, NH. GPI offers flexible work schedules that can split time between working in the office and from home. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the design of bridges for NHDOT, other state DOTs in New England, and local agencies. We seek someone with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and mentor others, the willingness to work collaboratively, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Our current projects include designing multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structures, along with rehabilitation, preservation, and repair of bridges, walls, and dams. With a solid backlog and a long history of positive client relationships, there is significant growth potential.

Responsibilities:

• Designing bridges and related structural elements
• Understanding and applying technical codes and engineering practices related to bridge design
• Collaborating with a team of bridge engineers to complete designs from Preliminary Structures Reports through PS&E and construction
• Building strong relationships with inter-departmental teams
• Managing schedules and budgets to meet contractual obligations for structural elements
• Performing calculations in accordance with NHDOT Bridge Design Manual, AASHTO standards, and other requirements
• Mentoring staff

Qualifications:

• BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
• PE Licensure in NH or the ability to obtain within 12 months
• 5+ years of experience in bridge design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and AASHTOWare; familiarity with Bentley Open Bridge, MicroStation, Csi Bridge, and MDX is a plus
• Knowledge of LRFD Bridge Design Codes
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
• NHDOT experience preferred
