Job summary

Entech Civil Engineers, Inc. is hiring a Bridge Project Engineer to join the Bridges and Structures Engineering Team in Austin, Texas. The role focuses on analysis and design of highway bridges and structures with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and client collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of highway bridges experience, a Texas PE or ability to obtain within 6 months, and strong knowledge of TxDOT standards. Local experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis required.
• 4+ years of highway bridges and structures engineering experience.
• Experience with TxDOT bridges and structures projects; roadway design is a plus.
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge and retaining wall structures per project needs and standards.
• Perform structural analyses using standard software tools.
• Develop design drawings for CAD staff and construction plans.
• Direct CAD staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on projects.
• Ensure QA/QC in design calculations, drawings, and specs.

Job description

Entech Civil Engineers, Inc. is currently hiring for a Bridge Project Engineer to join our Bridges and Structures Engineering Team located in Austin, Texas. As a member of our team at Entech you will play a pivotal role in the analysis and design of highway bridges and structures. You should have local state DOT and municipal experience, be highly proactive, able to develop creative technical solutions, have a strong understanding of structural operations and project management, and hands‑on experience with bridge design. Job location is 811 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX, 78704.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Utilize expertise in structural engineering principles to design bridge and retaining wall structures that meet project requirements and adhere to regulatory standards.
• Perform structural analyses utilizing industry-standard software tools such as MicroStation, LEAP Bridge Concrete and Steel, Open Bridge Modeler and Open Bridge Designer, STAAD Pro, CSI Bridge, LPILE, SNAILPLUS or similar programs.
• Develop detailed design drawings for CAD staff and construction plans.
• Direct CAD draftsmen and technicians in daily work activities associated with project plan development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage bridge projects from inception through completion.
• Maintain rigorous standards of quality and compliance with relevant codes and standards throughout the design and construction process.
• Conduct thorough reviews of design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and safety.
• Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external clients by understanding their needs, communicating project progress effectively, and providing innovative solutions to address their challenges and requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Masters Degree preferred, with a Structural emphasis required.
• 4+ years of highway bridges and structures engineering experience.
• Experience in the design of TxDOT bridges and structures projects, roadway design experience a plus.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE

Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or the ability to become licensed within 6 months.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Familiarity with TxDOT and local rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD. Ability to use TxDOT Manuals and follow TxDOT Policy.
• Skilled in the use of structural analysis and design software.
• Foundation and retaining wall design experience, and a working knowledge of LPile, is a big plus.
• Familiarity with applying industry standards including local DOT Standards, AASHTO, LRFD, Municipal, Toll Road Authority, etc.
• Adherent to strict QA/QC requirements.
• Initiative to implement improvement of project quality and technical capabilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Possess a can do attitude to take initiative and use latitude to get the job done.
