Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Bridge Engineer, PE, to join our Transportation team in Tampa, Florida. You will lead bridge design and plan production, perform load-rating analyses, and contribute to project delivery from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, a PE license, 5+ years of bridge experience, and proficiency with OpenRoads, AutoCAD, OpenBridge Designer, and AASHTOWare BrR. Occasional travel and strong communication are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience including bridge design and plan production.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO bridge design standards.
  • Experience with OpenRoads, AutoCAD, OpenBridge Designer, AASHTOWare BrR.
  • Bridge Inspection Team Leader experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel approx. 15% or more.

Responsibilities

  • Design bridges, culverts and retaining walls.
  • Plan production including 3D modeling and CADD.
  • Perform load rating analyses of bridges.
  • Prepare structural evaluation studies and related reports.
  • Compute quantities, notes, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to support design.
  • Supervise design progress and coordinate with officials and sub-consultants.
  • Participate in business development and client meetings.

Essential Functions :
  • Design bridges, culverts and retaining walls
  • Plan production including 3D Modeling and CADD
  • Load rating analysis of bridges
  • Prepare structural evaluation studies, structure-type studies, and similar reports
  • Computation of estimated quantities, plan notes, and development of cost estimates
  • Site visits to support the design process
  • Supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with state and local officials and other outside agencies and sub-consultants
  • Participate in business development efforts and meet with clients
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License, required
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, which must include bridge design and plan production
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Familiarity with AASHTO bridge design standards
  • Experience with computer software such as OpenRoads, AutoCAD, OpenBridge Designer, AASHTOWare BrR
  • Experience as Bridge Inspection Team Leader is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more
