Job description

Incumbents in this position are responsible for applying paints and other finishes to bridges and related structures to maintain appearance and protect surfaces.

Key duties include:

1. Applying paints, varnishes, and waterproofing materials to bridge surfaces to enhance durability and appearance.
2. Preparing paints by mixing and matching colors to achieve desired shades and thinning them to appropriate consistencies.
3. Preparing surfaces such as wood, metal, and concrete using hand or power tools, including sandblasters, scrapers, and paint chippers, and protecting surrounding areas from debris.
4. Setting up rigging, scaffolding, platform staging, and ladders following safety protocols to access work areas.
5. Constructing temporary structures like signs or barriers to ensure safety during operations.
6. Performing minor bridge maintenance tasks, including mixing and pouring concrete and carpentry work.
7. Carrying out related duties such as waterproofing gutters, snow removal, tool and equipment maintenance, drain and bridge component upkeep, and lubricating expansion points.

Minimum experience required: 2 years in related work.
