Incumbents in this position apply paint, varnish, and stain to various surfaces, prepare surfaces for painting, and select appropriate paints and colors. They mix, blend, and prepare paints for proper color matching, and erect scaffolding and staging to access work areas. The role involves maintaining and operating painting equipment, estimating project materials and time, and ensuring safety practices are followed. Additional duties include surface preparation for plaster or cement work, such as taping, caulking, and waterproofing, as well as related tasks like report preparation, record keeping, and handling materials and equipment. Depending on assignment, responsibilities may also include operating painting machinery, plastering, gutter cleaning, and moving supplies. Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant experience.
