Job summary

BL Companies seeks a Bridge Engineer in our Transportation group in Warwick, RI. The role provides hands-on experience in bridge design, analysis, and inspections with opportunities for career growth. Requirements include a civil/structural engineering degree and 3–6 years in bridge design or inspection.

The position can be based in Warwick, RI; East Hartford, CT or Norwood, MA offices. EIT certification is preferred, and proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Experience with transportation design/inspection is a plus.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for a Bridge Engineer in our Transportation group. The role provides hands‑on experience in bridge design, analysis, and inspections, with significant opportunities for career growth. The selected candidate will have a degree in civil or structural engineering and 3‑6 years of experience in bridge design or inspection. This position can be based in Warwick, RI; East Hartford, CT or Norwood, MA offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and other transportation structures.
• Prepare design reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Use CAD software to develop engineering drawings and plans.
• Perform bridge inspections which include field work.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Previous experience with Departments of Transportation, public works agencies, or transportation design consultants is a plus.
