Job summary

BL Companies is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation group in Norwood, MA, with opportunities across our RI/CT/MA offices. The role focuses on bridge design, analysis, and inspections, offering hands-on experience and clear paths for career growth.

The ideal candidate holds a civil/structural engineering degree with 3–6 years in bridge design or inspection, and demonstrates strong CAD skills and written communication. Hybrid work arrangements are available across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Previous experience with DOT, public works, or transportation design consultants is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and other transportation structures.
• Prepare design reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Use CAD software to develop engineering drawings and plans.
• Perform bridge inspections which include field work.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on various projects.

Salary: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Job Summary

Our growth offers an exciting opportunity for a Bridge Engineer in our Transportation group. We are looking for individuals with an interest in bridge design and/or bridge inspection, depending on the applicant’s specific interests. This position will give you hands‑on experience and exposure to bridge design, analysis, and/or inspections, with significant opportunities for career growth.

The selected candidate will have a degree in civil or structural engineering and 3-6 years of experience in bridge design and/or bridge inspection.

This role can be based in our Warwick, RI; East Hartford, CT or Norwood, MA offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges and other transportation structures.
