Job summary

The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking a Bridge Location and Layout Designer in Jefferson City for comprehensive design of highway structures, including bridges and culverts. The role emphasizes hydraulic analysis, cost estimation, and adherence to state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities include conducting hydraulic analyses, evaluating design alternatives, preparing memorandums, and coordinating with state/federal agencies, consultants, and districts to finalize the design

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
Engineer-in-Training exam completed.
Five years of civil engineering experience with proficiency in structural or highway design.

Responsibilities

Perform independent hydraulic and hydrologic analysis for stream crossing structures and geometric designs.
Evaluate alternatives and prepare cost estimates for practical designs.
Prepare bridge memorandums for new or rehabilitated structures for internal agreements.
Coordinate with department personnel, agencies, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to obtain data and permits.
Coordinate and review valley data, surveys, and soundings with division and district personnel.
