Summary: The person in this position performs maintenance and repair activities related to bridge functions. Responsibilities include following safety policies and laws, working under the supervision of the bridge foreman and/or general manager.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities of a bridge crew
• Unload and assist in unloading and distributing materials (rail, ties, spikes, etc.)
• Correct deviations in bridge surface, alignment, and gauge
• Install and repair wood trestles and structures
• Operate tools such as rail saws, track wrenches, spike mauls, tie adzes, and claw bars
• Assist with other projects and duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

• Two years of relevant work experience; heavy hand tools experience and outdoor work experience are a plus
• Knowledge of roadway-worker protection regulations
• Familiarity with FRA fall-protection regulations and G&W’s safety policies
• Good analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Customer service orientation and initiative
• Trustworthiness and integrity in interactions
• Computer skills and motivation to develop technical knowledge
• Ability to work well in teams and individually
• Good attendance and punctuality

Education and Credentials:

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (Class A)
