Job summary

The City of Richmond is actively recruiting for a Bridge Inspector in the Bridge and Structure Maintenance Division. You will inspect bridges and culverts, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city codes, and coordinate with consultants.

This role involves working at heights and may require extensive travel within the city. Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in engineering or related field, plus several years of inspection experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering or related area.
• 4 years of experience related to inspections.
• 5 years of active bridge inspection experience; preferred.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bridge Safety Inspection reports with photos and repair recommendations.
• Inspect structures by reviewing reports and documenting current conditions.
• Plan inspections including traffic considerations, lane closures, and equipment needs.
• Coordinate with consulting engineers and maintain city databases on structures.
• Perform duties as essential employees during emergencies or inclement weather.
