Job summary

Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) – State Highway Administration in Baltimore City seeks a Bridge Inspector (Transportation Engineering Technician IV) to help oversee structural inspections on the Maryland State Highway System.

The role ensures compliance with federal requirements for two-year inspection cycles, assisting the Team Leader with coordinating inspections, reporting, and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent is required.
• Five years of engineering-related experience in design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
• Selective qualification: Two years of bridge inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring inspections are conducted in accordance with Federal and State requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee uniform inspection and reporting of all structures throughout the State Highway network.
• Support the Team Leader in scheduling, documenting, and auditing bridge inspections on a two‑year cycle.
