As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader with the Department of Transportation, you guide a team that protects the structural health of bridges across the region. This position leads a bridge inspection team and ensures that all inspections meet established standards and support safe travel across the Commonwealth. The work supports statewide safety by overseeing inspections, documentation, and coordination with various partners. As a Bridge Inspection Team Leader, you will perform the following duties:

• Team Supervision: Direct and guide inspection staff during field operations and reporting
• Structural Inspection: Examine bridge components, as well as identify conditions and deficiencies
• Record Management: Maintain accurate inspection data, forms, photographs, and sketches
• Coordination Tasks: Work with maintenance units and railroads to secure access and resources
• Report Preparation: Compile thorough inspection reports with clear descriptions and findings
• Equipment Operation: Use ladders, lifts, cranes and other tools to safely access bridge structures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position is required to meet the qualifications for a bridge inspection team leader as defined by the current National Bridge Inspection Standards.
• This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
