Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to support our Gulf Region located in Brentwood, Chattanooga, or Knoxville, TN. The role requires a high school diploma at minimum and extensive NBIS bridge inspection experience.

You will lead a team in the field, schedule inspections, coordinate with vendors and stakeholders, and review inspection reports while developing repair recommendations. Travel within Tennessee is 50% and safety compliance is essential.

• 5+ years of bridge inspection experience with at least 1 year as NBIS Team Leader
• Strong writing and communication skills

Responsibilities

We are currently searching for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader to support our Gulf Regionlocated in Brentwood, Chattanooga, or Knoxville, TN.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.

What you'll be doing:

• Performing on-site safety inspections of bridges and culverts
• Leading a team of inspectors in the field during inspections
• Scheduling and coordinating inspections, personnel, vendors, stakeholders, maintenance of traffic
• Operating access equipment and other equipment to perform inspections
• Reviewing and updating bridge inspection reports
• Developing repair recommendations
• Reviewing structural analysis data

What you need to have:

• The successful candidate will have experience in conducting field inspections and preparing inspection reports. Candidates should possess a strong working knowledge of NBIS and have advanced writing and communication skills.
• NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bridge inspections with a minimum of 1 year service as a qualified NBIS Team Leader
• 50% Local In-State Travel required
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

• Knowledge of TDOT's bridge inspection process
• NHI Fracture Critical Inpsection Techniques for Steel Bridges and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures Courses
