Job summary
The New York State Thruway Authority seeks a Quality Control Engineer to review all bridge inspection reports and certify quality control for the NY bridge inspection program. The role includes assisting with Special Hauling Permit reviews and other duties within the Infrastructure Inspection Bureau.
A NYS PE license and at least five years of bridge-related experience are required. Candidates must have transfer eligibility under NYS Civil Service Law and will join a unit that offers extensive
Qualifications
- Must hold a New York State Professional Engineer license with current registration.
- One year of full-time qualifying engineering experience in transportation projects.
- Minimum five years of bridge design, construction, inspection or related experience.
Responsibilities
- Review Bridge Inspection reports for completeness, accuracy, and NBIS compliance; about 200 reports per year.
- Perform field reviews of inspection teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review Structural and Safety Flags for accuracy; about 150 issued yearly.
- Review OSS, large culvert, high mast lighting and retaining wall inspection reports.
- Assist with review of Special Hauling Permits in HOOCS; about 500 permits yearly.
