Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in New York State, working out of the Syracuse office. You will inspect bridge and highway projects, document work, and ensure compliance with NYDOT specifications.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 6+ months of inspection experience, and relevant certifications. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of $23 to $38 per hour, commensurate with qualifications,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6+ months of construction engineering/inspection experience required.
• ACI and NETTCP concrete inspector certification, or NETTCP paving certification preferred.
• NICET Certification (or equivalent) preferred.
• Knowledge in federally aided transportation projects preferred.
• Experience working with/for NYDOT and/or municipal clients preferred.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway construction projects, including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
• Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspections.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with NYDOT specifications.
• Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, and specifications to the work and make decisions.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
• Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
