Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Bridge Estimator in Indiana to prepare cost estimates for public bridge construction projects and oversee the bidding process. You will help develop competitive bid strategies, evaluate project costs, and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure winning contracts.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, 5+ years of bridge exposure, and proficiency in MS Office and HCSS HeavyBid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of bridge-intensive construction experience.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid or equivalent).
• Excellent organizational and detail-oriented abilities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze contract documents, construction plans, specs, and project scopes.
• Develop project bid strategies in coordination with management.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct field inspections as needed.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit competitive pricing.
• Verify project quantities and determine labor, equipment, resources, and productivity rates.
• Evaluate design alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions to improve bid competitiveness.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare and submit accurate, competitive bid proposals.
• Negotiate and secure contracts for awarded projects.
• Negotiate and finalize project subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Monitor job costs on active projects and use cost information to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships while supporting customer satisfaction.
