Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is seeking motivated civil engineering students to join our Transportation - Bridge team in Mechanicsburg, PA. This internship offers hands-on experience with a seasoned bridge engineering group on varied transportation projects.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a civil engineering degree (ABET-accredited) with interest in bridges and transportation, and strong communication skills. Office software proficiency and exposure to engineering tools are beneficial.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Strong interest in bridge and transportation engineering.
• Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); exposure to engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, or structural analysis programs) is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with the design and analysis of highway and transit-related bridges and structures.
• Support project teams with preparing plans, reports, and calculations.
• Perform fieldwork including bridge inspections and data collection, as needed.
• Conduct research and apply engineering principles to solve real-world design challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a professional engineering environment.
