Job summary

WSP USA's Carolinas Bridge Engineering Practice seeks a Full-Time Bridge Engineering Intern in Raleigh, NC (Charlotte possible). You will work with experienced bridge engineers on transportation projects in the Carolinas, gaining hands-on experience in planning, design and construction support for bridges.

This is a 12-week summer internship starting May 17, 2027, with a potential to continue part-time during the academic year.

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering program with a focus on structural/bridge engineering and expected graduation May 2028 or later.
Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States at internship start.
Interest in Structural/Bridge Engineering and desire to develop skills related to WSP’s projects.
Able to communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences and take direction from mentors.

Responsibilities

Assist with planning, design and construction support of bridges and related structures.
Support engineers with field investigations and design calculations/analysis.
Learn and apply industry software such as OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation and Bluebeam.
Help prepare final design plans, provisions, and project documentation.
Maintain project documentation and adhere to safety and company policies.
