Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP seeks motivated civil and structural engineering students to join our Transportation - Bridge team in Richmond, VA. This internship offers hands-on experience on highway and transit bridge projects, working alongside our experienced bridge engineers to develop practical solutions.

You will assist with design and analysis, prepare plans and calculations, perform field inspections, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a professional setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Demonstrated interest in bridge and transportation engineering.
• Knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to engineering software is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work both independently and in a team.
• Effective collaboration in a professional engineering environment.

WRA is currently looking for motivated civil and structural engineering students to join our Transportation - Bridge team in our Richmond office. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands‑on experience working alongside our experienced bridge engineering team on a variety of transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with the design and analysis of highway and transit‑related bridges and structures.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); exposure to engineering software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, or structural analysis programs) is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $21.50 - $24.50. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
