Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc. is seeking an entry-level Bridge Engineer to join our transportation team and contribute to the design, inspection, and rehabilitation of bridges and related structures.

You’ll work with experienced engineers on a variety of projects, gaining hands-on experience in design calculations, field inspections, and project management skills. The role offers exposure to structural analysis, load ratings, and modeling using industry software, with opportunities for growth toward

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree with structural/transport focus.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Internship or co-op in structural, bridge, or transportation engineering is a plus.
• Basic understanding of structural analysis and bridge design principles.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenBridge, LEAP Bridge, SAP2000 or similar software.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
• Willingness to perform field inspections, including ladders and uneven terrain.

Responsibilities

• Assist in structural analysis and design of bridges and related structures.
• Develop design plans, calculations, and construction documents under senior engineers.
• Support bridge inspections and condition assessments per regs.
• Participate in field investigations and data collection.
• Assist with load ratings, rehabilitation studies, and bridge replacements.
• Use engineering software to prepare designs, models, and reports.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, and regulators.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and inspection reports.
• Support permit applications and engineering studies.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with schedule/budget tracking.
• Ensure compliance with codes and design standards.
