Job summary

GCW Engineering, Inc. on-site in Las Vegas, NV seeks a bridge/structural engineer to lead planning, analysis, design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects. The role provides technical leadership for bridge and related structures, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to meet schedule and budget while following design standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering is required.
  • Master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in bridge design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee bridge design, load rating, rehabilitation, widening, and replacement projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with AASHTO LRFD, NDOT, and applicable codes.
  • Coordinate project schedules and budgets.
  • Review and approve engineering work products for quality and constructability.
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams throughout project development and construction.
  • Participate in project meetings, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and support construction engineering services.
  • Design structural components per division scope (bridges, retaining walls, flood-control, water facilities).

Job description

Serves as a bridge and structural engineer responsible for planning, analysis, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects. Provides technical leadership for bridge, retaining wall, and related structural projects; coordinates multidisciplinary teams; supports business development efforts; and ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable design standards and client requirements.

This role requires working on-site in Las Vegas, NV. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform and oversee bridge design, load rating, rehabilitation, widening, and replacement projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, NDOT requirements, and applicable ACI, AISC, and building codes.
  • Coordinate project schedules and budgets.
  • Review and approve engineering work products for quality, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams throughout project development and construction.
  • Participate in project meetings, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and support construction engineering services.
Structural Division
  • Design bridges utilizing AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Manual.
  • Design buildings utilizing IBC.
  • Design retaining walls.
  • Design flood control structures including detention basin infrastructure, junction structures.
  • Design water reservoirs and pump stations.
  • Perform structural analysis.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil engineering is required.
  • A Master's of Science degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in bridge design.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

This position requires a Nevada Professional Engineer license, or capable of acquiring in six (6) months after hire. Valid driver’s license.
