Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our Transportation group in Dallas.

You will apply structural engineering and detailing techniques on a variety of bridge and interchange projects to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure. The role requires a Bachelor's degree with a PE or equivalent, 3+ years of bridge design experience, and proficiency with major design tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, and LEAP Bridge Enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Professional engineer (PE) license or equivalent recognized by local board.
  • 3+ years of bridge design experience.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu and major bridge design software (LEAP, MDX, CSiBridge, spColumn).
  • Familiarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals or similar standards.

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
  • Work on bridge, box culvert, and interchange designs for highway and railway projects.
  • Develop structural details using design software and perform load calculations.
  • Review and check designs, calculations, estimates, and specs prepared by junior staff.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Bridge Engineer

As part of HDR's Transportation Business Group, you will help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities, and quality of life. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team solving complex mobility challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques.
  • Work on projects that include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
  • Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations to assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in bridge design.
  • Familiarity with TxDOT bridge design manuals, guidance, bridge standards, preferred practices and software.
  • Experience using Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, Projectwise, MathCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as BGS, SPColumn, and BridgeLink.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in bridge design.
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng).
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
  • Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3D.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, and Prestress Concrete Design.
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
  • Experience managing junior staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
