Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation seeks two Professional Engineers in Bridge Design to lead final design, reviews, and bridge plan checking with minimal guidance. The role includes preliminary design work and seismic considerations, ensuring safety and compliance with AASHTO standards.

Qualified candidates will hold a Montana PE, or eligible via comity within 6 months, with 4+ years in structural design. A sign-on bonus of $5000 is offered; hybrid remote work may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with civil structural courses.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Montana; eligibility via comity within 6 months of hire.
• Graduate degrees with structural concentrations will be evaluated case-by-case.

Responsibilities

• Perform final design, design review, and bridge plan checking on a project basis.
• Carry out preliminary design work and contribute to seismic analysis considerations.
• Interpret design guidelines and prepare calculations, reports, and documentation.
