Job summary

Stanley Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Engineer for our Chicago, IL office. You will perform structural design and analysis for bridges and related structures, developing plans and cost estimates in collaboration with project engineers and CADD staff.

The role requires experience with AASHTO LRFD, familiarity with Illinois DOT standards, and proficiency in structural software (CSi Bridge, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro). Hybrid work options are available with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• A Structural Engineer (SE) license within two years is required; PE license is a plus.
• 4–7 years of experience in structural/bridge engineering design.
• Familiarity with Illinois DOT, Illinois Tollway, and Chicago DOT standards and procedures.
• Experience with bridge design, load rating, and inspection of various structure types.
• Experience in bridge load rating analyses using AASHTO LRFR/LFR; NBIS familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering design and analysis for steel and concrete bridges, retaining walls, culverts, foundations and other transportation structures.
• Develop calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for preliminary and final bridge designs in coordination with project engineers and CADD staff.
• Apply AASHTO LRFD and applicable Illinois standards throughout the design process.
• Perform calculations for superstructure and substructure components (girders, piers, abutments, walls, deep foundations).
• Perform bridge rehabilitation, evaluation, and load rating analyses as needed.
• Coordinate structural design with roadway, geotechnical, drainage, traffic, and CADD to develop complete packages.
• Attend project/technical meetings with clients and agencies; resolve design/constructability issues.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, provide construction support under supervision.
