Job summary

Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Carpenter to join our team in Williamsburg, VA. The role involves building forms, assisting in concrete pours, and supporting bridge demo and rebuild projects with a focus on safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years as a Journeyman Bridge Carpenter, proficient with form systems and hand/power tools, and strong communication skills. This position is based in Williamsburg, VA with open regional travel and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Journeyman Bridge Carpenter.
• Familiar with bridge construction, form systems, hand and power tools, and all other highway construction scopes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden and/or metal forms, according to specifications, for molding concrete structures such as piers, footers, retaining walls, abutments, parapets, caps, columns and bridge decks
• Saw lumber per blueprint dimensions, using handsaw or power saw, and nail lumber together to make form panels
• Lift and handle built-in-place forms and/or assembles, erects and installs prefabricated forms
• Insert spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions
• Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, and planks
• Build rough wooden structures such as scaffolds, temporary frame shelters, overhang jacks and safety railings
• Lift and set rails for finishing machine
• Pour concrete in forms and decks which requires vibrating, shoveling and raking. Also assists concrete finishers
