Primoris Heavy Civil in Shreveport, LA is seeking a Bridge Carpenter to construct and repair wooden bridge components, forms, scaffolds, and handrails. The role requires precision, safety adherence, and a strong understanding of bridge construction techniques.

You will read blueprints, measure and cut timber, build forms for concrete, and work with a crew on site under supervision of engineers and foremen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years bridge carpenter / heavy civil carpentry experience.
• Read blueprints and construction drawings.
• Ability to measure, cut, and shape wood and related materials.
• Knowledge of concrete forming and falsework.
• Experience with common carpentry hand and power tools.
• Safety training and ability to work at heights in varying weather.
• OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, scheoscopes, and sketches to determine specs and materials.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials using hand and power tools.
• Build wooden forms for concrete pouring, align, plumb, and brace precisely.
• Construct and erect falsework and scaffolding per plans and safety regs.
• Install and repair timber piling, caps, stringers, deck forms, and other bridge components.
• Erect and dismantle temporary structures like shoring and bracing.
• Perform rough and finish carpentry work for bridge projects.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect work for compliance with specs, codes, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with crew, supervisors, and engineers for project success.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety policies.
