Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Associate I to contribute to the design and analysis of bridge and transportation projects. You will develop construction plans, perform structural calculations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across DOT and transportation clients.

The role offers growth, mentorship, and exposure to all phases of bridge design and project delivery. Posting locations include Champaign, Lisle, and Normal, IL, with a hybrid work option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• 0-2 years’ experience designing structural systems for bridge projects.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle check.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elements.
• Develop load calculations and structural design computations for project components.
• Prepare organized, detailed structural calculations and technical documentation.
• Design and draft structural elements, details, and connection designs.
• Develop plans and specifications using MicroStation software.
• Prepare complete and reviewable task deliverables that meet quality standards.
• Complete assigned tasks on schedule and within established project budgets.
• Work independently under the guidance of Project Managers and Project Engineers.
• Review and check structural calculations and design work.
• Participate in coordination meetings with multidisciplinary project teams.

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Bridge Associate I in the below posting locations. In this role, you will contribute to the design and analysis of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects, perform structural calculations and develop construction plans using industry-leading design software, collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, and gain hands-on experience working on impactful projects for DOT and transportation clients. What You’ll Do

• Perform structural analysis of bridge and infrastructure project elements

What You’ll Need

• Interest and/or familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT): permitting agency and industry design; permitting and construction standards; and/or policies and procedures
• Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred
• Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred
• Academic or internship experience in transportation discipline preferred

Salary Range

$70,000-$86,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
